WHITE PLAINS, NY — Janet Gutterman, Esq., Chair of the Westchester Children’s Association Board of Directors, has announced the election of 2 new members to the Board, John A. Giaocobbe and Margie Orell. In addition, Catherine Draper has been elected to be President of the Board.
“As we head in to our Centennial year we are very happy to have Cathy take over as President, and John and Margie join the Board. Their respective backgrounds and experience will lend valuable input as we look to the coming year and beyond,” Ms. Gutterman said.
Catherine Draper, a resident of Pelham, holds a Juris Doctor from University of Pennsylvania Law School. She is the current President of the Board of Directors for the Pelham Education Foundation, and is also the President of the Pelham Rotary Charities Fund, and is an active member of the Village of Pelham Zoning Board of Appeals. Draper has held many leadership positions in community organizations in Pelham, including past President and Paul Harris Award recipient of the Rotary Club of the Pelhams, past Vice-President and member of the Board of Education for Pelham Union Free School District, and a past member of the BEPT Teacher Center Policy Board. She was named Person of the Year in 2009 by the Pelham Civic Association.
John A. Giaocobbe is an attorney, who practices in White Plains. He holds Juris Doctor and MBA degrees from Quinnipiac University. A resident of New Rochelle, he also has experience in finance at Wachovia Bank and Wachovia Wealth Management, and as Senior Manager at the Imperial Yacht Club in New Rochelle, which has been owned by his family for over 40 years. Giaocobbe is a member of the Quinnipiac University School of Law Alumni Association, and has served on the Board of the Youth Shelter of Westchester and as a Mock Trial Coach at New Rochelle High School.
Margie Orell is a Preschool Teacher at Westchester Reform Temple Early Childhood Center in Scarsdale and has a BS degree in elementary education. A resident of Chappaqua, she has spent many years in various child-related and community volunteer positions including Mt. Kisco Food Pantry, Chappaqua PTA, Harvey School PA, Horace Greeley Scholarship Fund, Chappaqua School foundation and Bet Torah Synagogue.
