New York Crown Productions is selecting young women to participate in the annual Miss Westchester & Miss Hudson Valley Pageants which will take place September 1-2, 2012 at the White Plains Performing Arts Center. The four winners will go on to compete in the MISS NEW YORK USA® and MISS NEW YORK TEEN USA® Competitions, the official state preliminaries to the prestigious MISS USA® and MISS TEEN USA® Pageants.
All contestants will be judged in three equally scored areas of competition: swimwear, evening gown and interview. The lucky young women selected by the judges as the new titleholders will receive an exciting prize package valued at over $10,000, including their entry fees paid to the 2013 MISS NY USA® and MISS NEW YORK TEEN USA® competitions.
“We are looking for intelligent, articulate and beautiful young women,” said Laura Giannone, Executive Director for Miss Westchester & Miss Hudson Valley Pageants. “In addition to representing both Westchester County and the Hudson Valley Region at the State USA Competition, they will embark on a magical year of appearances and promoting charitable causes.” The current titleholders have spent the past year appearing in parades, on television and radio as well as using their titles and crowns to help raise money and awareness for many charitable causes and non-profit organizations.
All of the 2013 Miss Westchester & Miss Hudson Valley Pageants participants will receive training in public speaking, interview techniques, marketing and business etiquette from industry professionals. Workshops in makeup, hairstyling and wardrobe will be given during Orientation weekend in August. Contestants will also learn to walk on a runway and pose for the camera. The pageant is a full stage production with opening number, professional lighting, sets and sound. All participants receive gifts and prizes including free gym membership until the pageant from Official Fitness Sponsor Strata Health Club in West Harrison and a Modeling/Acting/Dancing/Singing scholarship from Official Sponsor Future Star Studios in NYC.
The pageants are open to young women who are single (never married, never been a parent), U.S. citizens, New York State residents between the ages of 14 to 18 in the Teen Division and ages 19 to 26 in the Miss Division. To become a contestant, interested young women should visit the pageants’ website www.westchesterpageants.com and fill out the application. Entry registration and $595 fee deadline for the 2013 pageants is July 31, 2012.
“Our pageants are about helping young women reach their full potential,” said Giannone. Whether it is helping themselves through physical fitness and good nutrition or helping others through community service, the pageant directors believe their contestants become better people by taking part in their competitions. “We encourage our contestants to be their ‘best selves’ in everything that they do,” added Giannone.
