Obituary: Richard Reisman (1925 – 2012) Loyal Inn Bartender, Marine, Saw Combat in the Pacific During WWII

Richard Reisman of New Rochelle, formerly of the Bronx, died on August 19, 2012. He was 87 years old. Born in Mount Vernon on June 26, 1925, he was the son of the late Edward and Rose Lucchini Reisman. His mother operated the popular “Miss Rose’s School of Music and Dance” in the Bronx for many years. After attending public schools in Mount Vernon, he graduated from Evander Childs High School in 1943. Upon graduation, he immediately enlisted in he U.S. Marine Corps and joined his two older brothers who had already gone off to serve in the South Pacific. He engaged in active combat at the Battle of Peleliu in 1944. He was discharged with the rank of Corporal. In later years, he was a member of the Westchester County Marine Corps League. For many years, he was the manager and bartender at the Loyal Inn Bowling Alley in Larchmont, and later managed the Beach Shop on the Boardwalk at Rye Playland.

He was beloved by four nephews and nine grandnieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Robert and William.
