On Friday, August 31, Metro-North will have early afternoon “getaway” trains leaving Grand Central for people who want to get a jump on the last long weekend of the summer.
The railroad will operate 18 extra getaway trains between noon and 4 p.m. for people leaving work early on Tuesday, July 3. In conjunction with this early rush hour, several regularly scheduled late PM peak trains will not operate. The extra trains are as follows:
Hudson Line
1:46 p.m. express to Poughkeepsie
2:40 p.m. express to Poughkeepsie
3:25 p.m. express to Poughkeepsie
4:05 p.m. express to Poughkeepsie
Harlem Line
1:45 p.m. express to Southeast
3:14 p.m. super-express to White Plains and North White Plains only
3:37 p.m. express to Southeast
4:08 p.m. express to Southeast
New Haven Line
12:04 p.m. express to Westport, then all stops between Fairfield and New Haven.
1:04 p.m. express to Westport, then all stops between Fairfield and New Haven.
1:59 p.m. express to Stamford then all stops to South Norwalk.
2:04 p.m. express to Westport, then all stops between Fairfield and New Haven.
2:28 p.m. stopping at all stations between New Rochelle and Harrison.
2:31 p.m. express to Westport, then all stops between Fairfield and New Haven.
2:59 p.m. express to Stamford then all stops to South Norwalk.
3:02 p.m. stopping at all stations between New Rochelle and Harrison.
3:23 p.m. express to Stamford, then Westport and all stops between Fairfield and New Haven.
3:27 p.m. stopping at all stations between New Rochelle and Harrison.
4:02 p.m. express to Stamford then all stops between Bridgeport and New Haven. In addition, the 3:04 p.m. Friday-only express to New Haven will also operate. All extra and cancelled trains are shown in the public timetable.
On Monday, September 3, financial markets and banks are closed, and a Sunday schedule will operate.
Metro-North’s connecting services have made similar service adjustments for early getaways on Friday, August 31:
The Hudson Rail Link will have a peak level of buses beginning with the 3:20 p.m. train from Grand Central.
The Haverstraw-Ossining Ferry will have an extra early ferry meet the 2:54pm train from Grand Central. The 6:20 p.m. train to Ossining and its connecting ferry will not operate.
The Newburgh-Beacon Ferry will provide extra early ferries to meet the following trains from Grand Central: the 2:50 p.m., 3:30 p.m., and 4:05 p.m. trains, as noted in published timetables. The 5:31 p.m. express train to Beacon does not operate. The ferry will instead meet the combined 5:34 p.m. train to Poughkeepsie.
On Monday, Labor Day, no connecting services will operate.
Grand Central North exits are closed on Labor Day.
