Margaret Gallinger Cone Berg passed away on August 27, 2012 at the Hospice House in Vero Beach.
She was born in New York City on January 29th, 1921 to George and Louise Gallinger. She graduated from New Rochelle High School, New Rochelle, NY and Wheaton College in Norton, MA in 1942. She then graduated from Katherine Gibbs.
She was a volunteer Coast Watcher during World War II.
Mrs. Berg married her 1st husband, Robert E. Cone June 6th, 1946. They lived in Orchard Park, NY.
She was a member of the Buffalo Junior League. They moved as a family first to Essex, CT and then in 1964 to Darien, CT where they lived until Mr. Cone’s death in 1983. She volunteered as a member of the Stamford-Norwalk Junior League. She was a Principal and Real Estate Broker in Robert E. Cone Associates. Mrs. Berg then moved fulltime to Vero Beach, FL in 1984. She was a member of Orchard Park Country Club and The Moorings Club where she served as a member of the Board as Membership Chairman. She was a member of the Norton Presbyterian Church in Darien, CT and the First Presbyterian Church of Vero Beach, FL.
She is survived by her second husband, Philip J. Berg and her three children by her first marriage, Margaret L. Cone- Gasche, of Vero Beach, FL, Robert A. Cone of Las Vegas, NV and George A. Cone of Killington, VT. In addition, she is survived by her two grandchildren, Lindsay K. Cone and Robert L. Cone of Killington, VT.
A Memorial Service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Vero Beach on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at 11:00am. A private interment will take place at Kensico Cemetery, Valhala, NY. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations in her name to the First Presbyterian Church of Vero Beach, FL, 520 Royal Palm Blvd, Vero Beach, FL 32960, the Hospital for Special Surgery, 535 East 70th Street, New York, NY 10012 or to the Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.
