Marisa L. Anton, 34, a former librarian at New Rochelle high school was back in court Monday for a brief appearance in front of New Rochelle City Court Judge Susan Kettner on charges related to a sex sting involving a student at the school.
Before court opened, Anton sat with her family. She was dressed in a beige dress with matching shoes and purse. Her case was the first called. She stood with her lawyer, Michele Marianna Bonsignor. After a brief conference, a new court date was set for November 12, 2012.
Anton, a female librarian at New Rochelle high school, was arrested on May 31, 2012 by New Rochelle Police after going to meet a 16-year old male youth for what she believed would be a sexual encounter.
Back in May New Rochelle Police Detective Captain Joseph Schaller said a police investigation confirmed the student’s report, and police detectives apprehended Anton when she appeared at the student’s residence allegedly to have a sexual encounter
“She invited him to engage in sexual contact,” said Schaller. “She was brought in for questioning and taken into custody”.
“No sexual contact occurred,” added Schaller.
Outside the courthouse, Anton looked straight ahead as she walked to a waiting car parked right outside the building. Her mother engaged this reporter, attempting to block photos and video being taken of her daughter. The mother declined a request to comment on the case.
The New Rochelle Board of Education accepted the resignation of Marisa Anton at their board meeting last Tuesday as part of what sources tell Talk of the Sound will be a plea deal.
In court again today there was a brief mention of an “SCI” which stands for “Supreme Court Information”, a type of charging document, similar to an indictment.
“It is typically used in a felony case where the defendant intends to plead guilty in a plea bargained matter,” said attorney Cynthia Lobo, a lawyer based in New Rochelle.
