Westchester County Police arrested two persons following a traffic stop on the Hutchinson River Parkway in New Rochelle yesterday (Monday) and charged them with being in possession of ketamine, hallucinogenic mushrooms and LSD.
Teodoro Salazar, 30, and Somer Salazar, 30, both of Naugatuck, Conn., were arraigned today in New Rochelle City Court after being held overnight at county police headquarters in Hawthorne. They were remanded without bail to the Westchester County Jail in Valhalla.
Detectives David Minet and Joseph Berardi were traveling on the northbound Hutch about 2 p.m. yesterday when they observed a Nissan Altima being driven erratically near Wilmot Road in New Rochelle. After the detectives stopped the vehicle, the driver, Somer Salazar, provided a driver’s license that was valid in Connecticut but suspended in New York. Her husband did not have a valid driver’s license and the detectives told the Salazars the car would be impounded.
Teodor Salazar was subsequently found in possession of several plastic bags containing crystallized ketamine and LSD. His wife was found in possession of a small plastic bag containing ketamine. A search of the vehicle revealed a small bag containing Psilocybin mushrooms in the trunk.
Teodor Salazar was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree and 4th Degree, felonies. Somer Salazar was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th Degree, a felony.
