NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A reception featuring thirty very recent new paintings by New Rochelle artist, teacher and musician David Tobey will be held at a private home at 52 Nob Court in New Rochelle on Sunday, November 18th from 3 to 7 p.m. Notices about the invitational opening to the artist’s and the homeowner’s friends, members of Westchester art groups, art gallery owners, interior designers and the media have been mailed; but all readers of New Rochelle Talk of the Sound in Westchester who are art lovers but who may not have received invitations because of the storms in the area are also cordially invited to attend.
The exhibition, that will run through the holidays is titled “Imaginaries II” and it is the first showing of a large number of these new paintings by Tobey in Westchester County since the artist’s exhibition of some of the earlier works in the series this year at a New York City solo show in Chelsea in May & June. This new art is a departure from Tobey’s previous paintings in acrylic, and are executed in bright and glossy enamels on canvas.
There will be complimentary refreshments at the reception, and Tobey, who is also a professional musician (with the Westchester Philharmonic and other musical groups) and a teacher in the New Rochelle School system, will most likely be performing on violin as he customarily does at all of his gallery openings.
More information on the exhibition and about the new paintings can be found on Tobey’s web site at http://www.davidtobey.com, and the artist can be contacted by email to david@davidtobey.com or by phoning him at (914) 329-2581.
