WHITE PLAINS, NY — Consumers who lost telephone, cable, satellite or other services due to Hurricane Sandy may be entitled to credit or a waiver of extra fees from their providers.
“Check with your service providers,” said County Executive Robert. P. Astorino. “You may be entitled to some break on your bill due to interruptions in service from Hurricane Sandy. However, you need to ask to get it.”
John Gaccione, acting director of the county’s Department of Consumer Protection, added: “Most service providers will not automatically credit the accounts of their customers. Consumers may miss out on possible account credit or fee waivers by not asking.”
