KenJenkinsWHITE PLAINS, NY — Westchester County Board of Legislators (BOL) Chairman Ken Jenkins (D-Yonkers) reaffirmed his support for Israel as the Middle East nation defends itself against persistent and deadly rocket attacks from the militant Palestinian group Hamas in Gaza.

“I strongly condemn the Hamas rocket attacks aimed at the people of Israel,” said Jenkins. “This escalation of violence is the work of cowards trying to subvert peace in the Middle East and should not be tolerated by world leaders. I fully support Israel’s right to defend its people against these rocket attacks and any other acts of terrorism. In my two visits to Israel, I have stood in the areas where some of these attacks occurred. Undoubtedly, a renewed commitment for peace that is perceptible and real is needed now, or more innocent lives will be lost for naught.”

Over the past several days, Jenkins has been in close touch with members of Westchester’s Jewish community regarding his deep concern for Israel as the Hamas rocket attacks have intensified.

Tomorrow evening Jenkins will join other elected officials and Westchester community members at Temple Israel Center in White Plains for a special event, “A Night of Solidarity with Israel,” which begins at 7:30 PM.

“I appreciate the Westchester Jewish Council’s organization of this event so that we can raise county-wide awareness of this profound crisis and its global implications,” Jenkins remarked.
