Power lines on Harbor Lane are sparking causing lights to flicker on Pelham Road. Traffic signals are off on Union Avenue and Washington Avenue and on Pelham Road and Drake Avenue.
Con Edison has been notified of the problems. Crews are on route to the area to assess and repair. Full restoration is projected for 4:00 p.m.
Jefferson School has been without power since about noon.
UPDATE 12:21 p.m.: Con Edison Spokesperson Allan Drury tells Talk of the Sound that the figures in the thousands being reported on the Con Edison Outage Map are due to a “glitch” in the map. The actual number of customers without power is closer to 700. The transformer fire was due to a detective transformer at Grove Street and Warren Street which may have been caused by fatigue from Hurricane Sandy.
