WHITE PLAINS, NY — The Westchester County Board of Legislators (BOL) will be hearing from Consolidated Edison (Con Ed) and New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) representatives at joint meeting of the BOL’s Environment & Energy and Government Operations committees TOMORROW—Tuesday, December 4 at 3 PM. The meeting, which is open to the public, will take place in the BOL’s Committee Room on the eighth floor of the Michaelian Office Building.
Westchester residents, hammered by Hurricane Sandy, faced power outages that lasted over two weeks in some cases after the storm. Questions about the utility companies’ response regarding storm preparations, the outages and slow restoration of service for hundreds of thousands of customers have abounded since the hurricane.
Legislator Michael Kaplowitz (D-Somers), chair of the BOL’s Environment & Energy Committee noted that representatives from the NYS Public Service Commission has declined an invitation to attend the meeting and answer questions from the legislators, yet he hopes they will attend a future BOL committee meeting. Legislator Catherine Borgia (D-Ossining) is the chair of the BOL’s Government Operations Committee.
Representing Con Ed will be John Banks, VP of Government Affairs; Dan Lyons, Public Affairs Manager; Tony Suozzo, Electric Operations General Manager; Acting Director of Westchester Public Affairs Jane Solnick; and either the VP or Director of Emergency Management.
Representing NYSEG will be Jim Salmon, Manager of Outreach and Development, East Region; Anthony Zangare, Brewster Division Operations Manager; and Dave Foss, Manager of Transmission and Distribution Programs and Projects from NYSEG’s parent company, Iberdrola USA.
