WASHINGTON, DC — Congressman Eliot Engel (D-NY-16) was sworn in as a member of the 113th Congress today, embarking upon his first day in representing the new 16th Congressional District incorporating parts of the Bronx and Westchester County. The 13-term Congressman represented the 17th District for the last 10 years, representing parts of the Bronx, Westchester and Rockland Counties.
“I am excited to begin my term representing many familiar faces from the last 24 years, and many thousands of new faces. America is facing many challenges over the next two years and I am eager to work towards solving them. I am thankful to the people of Westchester and the Bronx for their overwhelming support in the last election. I intend to work hard to fight for the issues important to our district.”
Rep. Engel is the Ranking Member (Senior Democrat) of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and a senior member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. He serves on both the Subcommittee on Health and the Subcommittee on Energy and Power.
