Iona College’s Department of Criminal Justice, in conjunction with Bright Line Police Consulting and Law Enforcement Today will present a seminar on Preventing. Active Shooter Tragedies on Thursday, January 10, 2013.
The Keynote Speaker is Lt. Dan Marcou, a veteran law enforcement officer, trainer and author. Marcou is the developer of the Five Phases of the Active Shooter. This half-day conference will educate school and law enforcement personnel on the five stages of active shooter behavior and early intervention techniques to prevent active shooter tragedies.

Lt. Dan Marcou: Lt. Dan Marcou served for 29 years with the Wisconsin La Crosse Police Department and has received 15 departmental citations, three Chief’s Superior Achievement Awards, Police Officer of the Year, SWAT Officer of the Year, and Domestic Abuse Law Enforcement Officer of the year, as well as Humanitarian of the Year. Lt. Marcou has achieved national recognition as a trainer for his innovations in crowd control, defensive tactics, live interactive firearms training, and his Five Phases of the active shooter. Marcou is a master trainer for the State of Wisconsin and trains all levels of police officers from entry level to upper management.
Lt. Marcou originated the SWAT Team in his department and successfully neutralized an Active Shooter in his jurisdiction. He is a novelist and a Police One columnist. Lt. Marcou served as a tactical operator, team leader, Officer in charge of the La Crosse Police Department Emergency Response Team. He was also commander of the nationally recognized La Crosse Police Department Emergency Response Team, which developed what some call the La Crosse Method of crowd control. A trained negotiator, Lt. Marcou was presented with the Distinguished Service Award from the City of Oak Creek, for assisting them effectively with an active shooter on November 5, 2004. Cause Monroe College has a gun problem on their campus and Noam Bramson just turns a blind eye to it. If anything happens cause of the malfeasance and incompetence there, the blame is all on “know it all” Noam.
