NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Board of Education Citizen Advisory Committee for the 2013-2014 Budget held their first meeting last night at New Rochelle High School prior to the Annual Budget Forum. The committee was appointed at the January 8th Board of Education meeting.

The CAC is made up of 7 community members: Melinda Abrams, Cassandra Campbell, Ivar Hyden, Mary Monzon, Nunzia Morano, Stephanie Tomei and Paul Warhit.

Board President Chrisanne Petrone was appointed by the board as the Board of Education Liaison to the CAC. Assistant Superintendent John Quinn was appointed by the board as the District Administration Liaison. By board policy, any other board members may sit on CAC meetings in an ex-officio capacity.

One of the first decisions of the committee, announced by BoE President Petrone, was to begin their committee deliberations by reviewing the inaugural CAC report received by the board in April 2012. That report was warmly received by the board and many community leaders and community members and contained dozens of ideas regarding budget efficiencies and suggested on how to make the budget document more understandable to the average person.
