WHITE PLAINS, NY — Margaret Adamson of Port Chester thanks County Executive Robert P. Astorino, Titan and the Royal Hanneford Circus for the opportunity to take her two adopted daughters – Journey, 5, left, and Faith, 4 – to the circus for the first time. Adamson has been a foster parent for more than five years, and she said the tickets were the perfect thank you for all the love and energy she has given to Westchester’s children in need.
Live from the center of the ring of the Royal Hanneford Circus, County Executive Robert P. Astorino today announced a special circus ticket giveaway for more than 100 foster parents and kids. The opportunity is thanks to a generous donation of tickets to the Department of Social Services from Titan, the U.S. leader in transit media and a longtime partner of Westchester County through advertising partnerships with the Bee-Line buses and most recently the county airport.
“The circus and childhood go hand-in-hand, so we are thrilled to offer a great circus experience to our county’s foster kids,” Astorino said. “The circus is a longstanding tradition in Westchester, and it is thanks to our strong corporate partnerships that these families will be able to enjoy the festivities free of charge. I want to thank Titan and the Royal Hanneford Circus for this generous donation to the Department of Social Services.”
Astorino was joined at the County Center by Titan executives as well as Ringmaster Billy Martin, Grandma the Clown and other circus performers, who offered a preview of what’s to come this weekend at the 38th Annual Royal Hanneford Circus at the County Center.
One lucky family – the Adamson’s of Port Chester – was not only given tickets, but was also invited to step inside the ring to meet the performers.
“Titan is very pleased to donate these tickets so that Westchester’s foster families can enjoy a great day at the circus,” said Don Allman, president and CEO of Titan. “Titan has had a great history with this county, as well as a longtime partnership with the circus. Contributing to the community continues to be extremely important to us.”
With eyes gazing widely at all the action around them, adopted sisters 4-year-old Faith and 5-year-old Journey said they couldn’t wait to see all the animals and artists at the circus. The girls are both former foster children who have been adopted by Margaret Adamson, a single mother from Port Chester. Adamson has been a Westchester County foster parent for more than five years, and the girls have thrived under her care.
“Life isn’t always easy, but at the circus, there isn’t a care in the world,” said Margaret Adamson. “I can’t thank everyone enough for the chance to enjoy a great family day with my girls.”
Department of Social Services Commissioner Kevin McGuire added his appreciation, saying: “On behalf of the foster children attending the circus, I wanted to thank Titan and the Royal Hanneford Circus for reaching out to the Department of Social Services to give our foster children the chance to participate in the great American tradition of attending the circus as a child.”
The Royal Hanneford Circus will perform nine shows Feb. 16, 17 and 18. Show times are 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. each day.
