Luis Gabriel “Gabe” Sanchez, a member of the 2010 New Rochelle High School class, will be graduating from the University at Albany in May 2013 with a degree in Latin American and Globalization Studies (double major). He will be completing his BA degree in three years and graduating Summa Cum Laude (3.85/4.00 GPA).
Gabe was notified today that he has been admitted to the PhD program in Latin American Studies. The University at Albany provides one of the very few PhD programs in this area and is considered a leader in the field of research in Latin America. Gabe has received the Spellman Academic Achievement Award from Albany as well as being a beneficiary of a Frederick Douglas Merit Scholarship (full-tuition). He has presented at Stony Brook University’s Annual Graduate Student Conference on Latin American and Caribbean Studies. Last summer, Gabe worked at the Institute for International Humanitarian Affairs at Fordham University.
Gabe is a proud alumnus of Columbus Elementary School in New Rochelle. Gabe’s entire family (Martin, Wendy & Bobby Sanchez; grandmothers Benilda Rojas and Shirley Rose) is proud of his accomplishments.
