Last Monday, Daniel Webster Elementary School launched its School Lunch Recycling Program.
The children are sorting their lunchroom waste into the different recyclable categories and are stacking their trays neatly. This is resulting in a reduction in garbage bags from 12-14 per lunch to 2 actual bags of garbage.
The students are very enthusiastic, immediately signing up to be Recycling Rangers. A schedule will be posted so that all signed up children know when they will get a chance to help.
It is very heart-warming to see students from K through 5th grade carefully placing the different items into the correct bin. The lunchroom custodian is very helpful and supports the student helpers in many ways.
That is what we call “the Webster Way”
