NBGCNR TastiDliteEW ROCHELLE, NY — On Saturday, June 1st the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle (BGCNR) kicked off its Career Launch Program by offering Club members a unique educational opportunity at Tasti D-Lite/Planet Smoothie in New Rochelle’s Wykagyl Shopping Center. Tasti D-Lite/Planet Smoothie is well known as a low-calorie frozen dessert favorite among the health conscious and celebrities alike. The New Rochelle franchise is owned and operated by Bill Warshaw, a Boys & Girls Club “It Just Takes One” Annual Fund Donor. During their visit at Tasti D-Lite/Planet Smoothie, Warshaw shared with BGCNR Club members the benefits of owning a franchise as well as the challenges associated with inventory control, staff management and product marketing to attract new customers. When asked what some of them wanted to be when they grew up the responses included from attorney, teacher, nurse and one child expressed interest in becoming a CEO! “I’ve run a number of successful businesses” said Warshaw to the Club members in attendance. “It’s not easy but I love what I do for a living and couldn’t dream of doing anything else! Believe me when I tell you anything you dream is possible, you just have to work hard, study and remain focused on your goal.”

A highlight of the children’s visit was the reveal and private tasting of the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle Black Cherry Tasti D-Lite treat. This limited edition flavor will be available the entire month of June and a percentage of each sale will benefit programs offered by the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle for children between the ages of 6 and 18. Anyone interested in supporting the Club while enjoying a delicious low calorie treat should visit Tasti D-Lite/Planet Smoothie in the Wykagyl Shopping Center at 1282 North Avenue in New Rochelle between the hours of 11:30 am and 9 pm.

“Bill’s generosity appears to have no end” says Quay Watkins, Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle Executive Director. “The opportunity offered today will certainly inspire the entrepreneurs among our kids and that’s exactly what the Career Launch Program is about. I hope others will follow his example and find ways to become supporters of our Club, our kids and their dreams for successful careers! “
