NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Con Edison tells Talk of the Sound that the school district’s faulty electrical equipment caused the fire and explosion which shut down New Rochelle High School for the better part of three days.
“Customer equipment (cables) failed, causing us to have to take some of our equipment out of service,” said Con Ed spokesperson Allan Drury.
“That caused the outage to the Quaker Ridge shopping center which was restored shortly thereafter on Friday afternoon”, said Drury.
The district brought a generator to the high school Sunday and was able to partially restore power so that school could open.
