Written By: Talk of the Sound News

WHITE PLAINS, NY — The county’s largest community center, the Westchester County Center, opens its doors for Open Gym nights, where teens can beat the heat and summer doldrums as they socialize, work on athletic skills and stay physically active in a safe, drug and alcohol-free environment.

During the program, teens in grades six to twelve can have fun in air-conditioned comfort while they shoot hoops, play chess or other board games or compete in traditional recreational activities like foosball, Noc hockey and ping pong. Teens will be supervised by adult staff of the County Parks Department. Admission and parking at the County Center lot are free for these events.

Open Gym will run Mondays through Fridays, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., beginning Monday, July 1, and will run through Friday, July 26; there will be no Open Gym on Thursday, July 4 and Friday, July 5.

The Open Gym program is sponsored by Westchester County Parks.
The Westchester County Center is located at 198 Central Park Avenue in White Plains.
