NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The New Rochelle Public Library’s 2013 Disney Hit Parade series, which is featuring animated Disney films with music composed by New Rochelle native Alan Menken, will continue on Monday, July 22nd with the film, Aladdin. The 1992 animated movie will be shown at 6:00 pm on the big screen of the air-conditioned Ossie Davis Theater.

Based on an Arabian folktale, the film relates the story of a commoner named Aladdin and his mischievous monkey, Abu, who battle to save the free-spirited Princess Jasmine. Aladdin’s whole life changes with one rub of a magic lamp as a fun-loving, shape-shifting Genie appears and grants him three wishes, setting him on an incredible journey of discovery. Through his adventures, Aladdin proves that he is a prince where it truly matters most — on the inside!

The music earned composer Alan Menken the Academy Award for Best Original Score.

The next film in the series, Pocahontas, will be shown on Monday, July 29th.
