They are spot on. Anyone who claims to have any love of a representative democracy will see through this façade. I would also remind all of you that we have heard often that the overwhelming majority of citizens in our community support Echo Bay development as a example of waterfront development. We have seen no proof that supports this statement; no survey, no signed petitions nothing! It is ego driven elitism at its worst and is especially difficult to swallow given this fact, the complementary fact that it does not represent either waterfront development or does Echo Bay qualify as “waterfront”
On the other hand, it can no longer be argued that the opposition to Echo Bay reflects the discontent of the chronically complaining lower New Rochelle. The Citizens for a Better New Rochelle are an ecletic group of concerned community members who have fairly and openly expressed their opposition using a current state approach to facts in the context of issues we face today as a divided city or perhaps borrowing from Bill de Blasio, a “Tale of Two Cities.’ Happily it is less representative of North versus South but much more, a need to gain a voice in resurrecting a once great small city. I don’t have a lawn but if you do, stand up for what is inarguably right based on both current state facts as well as respectful disagreement.
