NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Three Hundred and Twenty children at the received school supplies packed into their very own backpacks today; at a presentation for the families at HOPE.
The supplies were donated by the Residence Park neighbors, and their partners ShopRite, CNR, KPCoW, Minuteman, Crystal Rock and Ridgewood Bank.
At the presentation, Mayor Noam Bramson spoke to the young students about the importance of their education. Councilman Ivar Hyden thanked the Residence Park neighborhood, and their partners for their community wide service. Association President Lisa Davis told the students that they are the future, and our neighborhood is helping them toward their brilliant future. All the speakers, Noam , Ivar, Carole Troum, Lisa Davis and Karen Collins , encouraged the students to have a successful school year.
The whole group, neighbors, sponsors, HOPE, and families; all thank project Back to School chair Karen Collins, who did a tremendous amount of planning, and work, and shopping, and packing, to bring this all together. This is the twentieth year that Residence Park supplied book-bags and supplies to the children of HOPE. It started with twenty-five students, then to fifty, seventy-five, and now to more than three hundred children.
The Residence Park neighborhood is hosting our bi-annual neighborhood Tag and Craft Sale on Sept. 28, at Elm St. & Liberty Ave.
