I have been conflicted for months about Noam Bramson running for County Executive. On the one hand, I want him out of New Rochelle and on the other hand he can do even more damage if he ever climbs his way up to the county level. I have increasingly come down on the side that I want Noam to lose even if that means we are stuck with him for two more years. I hold out hope that he will lose and become so discouraged that he will go take a job in Washington or Albany.
In any case, Suzanne Samin at Daily Voice has an amusing (to me) article about the New Rochelle Street Fair on Sunday: New Rochelle Street Fair Continues City’s Anniversary Celebration.
I was there walking around with Rob Astorino and his entourage (which included me and my kids who were sporting Astorino shirts, signs and flyers) as he worked the crowd for about two hours.
Astorino met a lot of people, was very well received and seemed in no itching hurry to leave.
Noam, on the other hand, was nowhere to be found. I heard that he had not planned to attend the event at all but was brow-beaten into coming at least for the ribbon-cutting.
Samin’s article suggests Noam did the Mayoral equivalent of a dine-and-dash:
Mayor Noam Bramson opened the fair to the public along with the 325th Anniversary Committee and the City of New Rochelle at 11 a.m but was not available for comment.
Astorino, by contract, found himself welcomed with open arms on the Mayor’s home turf:
County Executive Rob Astorino was at the fair, meeting constituents and handing out brochures asking voters to vote for him against Bramson in November.
He told The Daily Voice, “I’m having a blast. It’s a lot of people, a lot of fun. The old cars are great to look at. Its nice to see businesses out here getting some added traffic and seeing the community.”
When I got there after lunchtime, Noam was long gone but there were two Bramson supporters (including our own Brian Sussman!) handing out palm cards for Bramson — all in Spanish.
What does it say that Noam could not be bothered to stick around at an event from the 325th Anniversary Committee which he created and instead left behind a bunch of spanish-language campaign literature? A lot of the guests at the event appeared to be Spanish-speakers and those from New Rochelle were likely from the West End. I guess that’s just not Noam’s crowd.
Prospects after City Hall
“I hold out hope that he will lose and become so discouraged that he will go take a job in Washington or Albany.”
Huh? It seems to me there would be an awful lot of waiter and bartender’s jobs for Noam to compete with in D.C.
Probably a better chance for employment in Albany.
I forget, is Bramson an attorney? An accountant? What’s that? Been in politics his entire adult life?
Noam, ya’ got a chauffeur’s license?
No job skills and he never
No job skills and he never held a full-time job in his life. He was a part-time councilman and now a part-time mayor. Spoon fed with a Harvard degree paid for by his family. No wonder he hasn’t a clue as to what people are feeling.
I had the pleasure of meeting Rob Astorino
I was quite impressed with how genuine he was in our conversation. Firstly he did not speak in sound bites, did not seem programmed. He was quite the regular person. The people were glad to meet him.
I hope Astorino trounces the little emaciated dweeb.
Then lets see what his next moves will be. The train of people who dislike Boy Wonder is building steam. I do not think he will rise to the level of his potential and expectations.
As and aside Pearl Quarles has become my favorite TV voice ” Westchester just can’t afford Noam Bramson.”
Got to love that.
Bramson is a no good POS. He
Bramson is a no good POS. He has proven this through his tactics during elections and the way he is pushing through Echo Bay. People in Westchester better wake up. If his underhanded behavior at the city level is any indication of how he would handle county issues, then this bum needs to run out of town. Perhaps when and if he is defeated on both Echo Bay and the CE race, his ego will be deflated and he can run home to Nita Lowey.
Noam se fue
Yes, Noam was there for 8 minutes. Astorino for 2 hrs. Astorino spoke to many people in Spanish; rather well. And Noam? Well you see Noam doesn’t like the Latino community in New Rochelle. It’s ok. The Latino community in New Ro doesn’t care much for him either.
