Maisano Defies Independence Party Bosses, Trounces Endorsed Candidate by 4:1 Margin to Secure Party Line

Jim Maisano 75pxNEW ROCHELLE, NY — While the official votes have yet to be determined by the Westchester County Board of Elections, it appears that Jim Maisano has trounced his opponent Stavros Pantelis in yesterday’s Westchester County Independence Party primary for Westchester County Legislator in District 11.

Sources close to the campaign tell Talk of the Sound that 90 voters cast write-in ballots for Maisano in New Rochelle & Pelham. Pantelis got just 19 votes with 87% of Election Districts counted.

The Westchester County Board of Elections will be counting the write-in votes next Wednesday.

“We are very pleased that so many members of the Independence Party went out yesterday to write in my name instead of voting for the candidate picked by the party bosses,” said Maisano. “I am very thankful to our bipartisan team of about 50 people that worked on this write-in campaign. While we await the official announcement from the Board of Elections, we are thrilled that our grass roots primary effort was so successful.”

A well deserved congrats to Legislator Maisano. This is an incredible rebuke to Bramson and New Rochelle Democrat machine’s puppet candidate who only registered to vote in New Rochelle last year. The voters also rose up and overwhelmingly said NO to Independence Party Bosses and it’s nice to see that still happens in politics. Just wait till November – Jim has bipartisan support in New Rochelle and will bring out a lot of voters who will vote for Rob Astorino too.
