New Rochelle is also holding on to wrong policies when it comes to the use of disposables in the schools. Students are being served on disposable Styrofoam trays, creating large amount of garbage.
The argument used is that Styrofoam is cheaper.
But the truth is, that this is a very myopic view. The true cost of using disposables is not in the purchase cost alone, but in upstream and downstream of this highly toxic material.
Why are New Rochelle’s parents allowing their children to be fed on proven unhealthy materials?
Why are New Rochelle’s Tax Payers allowing their hard earned money to be wasted on completely unnecessary garbage disposal costs?
We as tax payers / consumers are voting every time we buy something.
Vote for re-usable materials and out with the disposables, for the health of our children, our environment and our wallets.
