Youth Seek Jobs in Echo Bay

Democratic District Leaders and some minority youth expressed support for the Echo Bay project at the October 8 City Council meeting. These youth expressed hope for jobs in the Echo Bay project area. Putting our youth and unemployed adults to work is a daunting challenge and a worthy goal but dangling far in the future jobs is not justified

The young people who spoke are looking forward to obtaining jobs either with the construction of Forest City’s Echo Bay Project, or the eventual retail jobs in the small strip of stores. How unrealistic! Do they know how few jobs will be created by this strip of retail establishments and the typical retail salaries paid?

Robert Cox, editor of Talk of the Sound, rushed to City Hall and expressed his dismay that the City of New Rochelle had not lived up to its obligations of a 15 year old resolution that the city is supposed to help these young people qualify to enter the work force.
