WASHINGTON, DC — Congressman Eliot Engel welcomed the new Israeli Ambassador Ron Dermer in his Washington office Tuesday. The two had a productive meeting in which they discussed the threat of Iran’s nuclear program and other issues important to the U.S.-Israel relationship. Rep. Engel said, “I anticipate working with Ambassador Dermer on the many issues involved in our relationship with America’s closest ally in the Middle East.” Ambassador Dermer was born in Miami, Florida, and moved to Israel in 1997. He has worked within Prime Minister Netanyahu’s inner circle as a political adviser for the past four years. He replaces Ambassador Michael Oren.
