I just received a kind note from Nicholas Cannone, son of Tony Cannone.

Today is the final day of operation for Cannone’s Pizza.

Iona College buying property on North Avenue and puts out new RFP!

Iona College has agreed to purchase the property at 654 North Avenue in New Rochelle, home to Cannone’s Pizza and Campus Wings, within the next 30 days. The property is adjacent to Iona College and has been a strategic priority for several years. The acquisition is consistent with the College’s efforts to develop both its campus and North Avenue.

Anthony Cannone, Legendary Owner of Cannone’s Pizza, Has Died

Gaetano “Tony” Cannone died Sunday, August 1st, at his home in New Rochelle. He was 77.

As owner of Cannone’s Pizza on North Avenue, Tony became an integral part of the Iona College experience for tens of thousands of students since 1977 when he first opened for business. Tony will be fondly remembered by students and New Rochelle residents.

He leaves behind his Angelina, son Nicholas and his wife Stacey, daughter Susie and her husband Steven and two granddaughters, Madeleine and Charlotte.

Tony was born in Vallata, Italy on April 7, 1933 to Nicola and Assunta Cannone. He lived in Italy until 1973 at which time he, his wife and small children immigrated to the United States. Also survived by his brothers Michele, Mario, Amedeo, and Guido and his sisters Giovanna, Raffaela and Susie..
