ARDSLEY, NY — On Tuesday, Dec. 3, Operation PROM will be hosting a press conference to launch its 10th Annual Prom Season. The conference will be hosted at “LIFE, the Place to Be,” in Ardsley, where Operation PROM will be hosting its upcoming 10th Anniversary Prom Gala on Jan. 23, 2014.
The press conference will feature some of Operation PROM’s newest Board Members, including Jared Rice of the New Rochelle City Council and TV personality Jene Luciani, in addition to 10th Anniversary Prom sponsors: Westchester Magazine, Bloomingdale’s, Broken Bow Brewery, Ammirati Coffee & Tea Co., Greater Than We, The College of Westchester, Life Cleaners, MSM Designz, WAG Magazine, State Farm Insurance, and The Men’s Wearhouse.
“Operation PROM is a great program,” said County Executive Robert P. Astorino. “Westchester County is pleased to continue to co-sponsor this program through our Department of Social Services.”
The 2014 Prom season will be the 5th year that Operation PROM has been partnered with the Westchester County Department of Social Services.
“We will also be announcing our amazing Celebrity Prom Queen, who will be with us at our 10 year anniversary gala on January 23,” said Noel D’Allacco, Founder of Operation PROM. “Not only are we celebrating 10 years of being a Westchester based non-profit, but we are also proud to say that we are still 100% non-profit, with no salaries given at our organization. Everyone is a volunteer.”
In 2013, Operation PROM raised and fully funded the Senior Prom for the Channel View High School in Rockaway, Queens, who were affected by Hurricane Sandy. For the 2014 Prom season, money raised through the 10th Anniversary Gala and other fundraising opportunities will allow Operation PROM to once again select a high school in financial need, and fund their Prom.
Operation PROM covers the greater New York City areas, with 8 chapters in the tri-state area, and 6 chapters across the country. The online registration form for free Prom dresses and tuxedo’s is now available on their national website to qualifying students (www.operationprom.org/free-dresses.php).
Operation PROM is a national 501c3 not for profit organization that provides resources, opportunity and mentoring to students in need. Services are available to children in financial need, those who are homeless, sick, or disabled. School supplies and scholarships are available in addition to donations of prom dresses and tuxedos.
To date, Operation PROM has helped thousands of students across the U.S. attend their prom at little or no cost. To request a free prom dress or tuxedo, students must be recommended by their guidance counselor and meet the requirements such as a severe financial need, and the student should be passing all of their classes. Our goal is to continue to expand throughout U.S. and increase the number of donations each year.
