NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Rhythms of a Faithful Journey, an exhibit of quilts created in mixed media, will be on view at the New Rochelle Public Library from January 12th through February 28th, 2014, during regular library hours. The exhibit is based on Ms. Miller’s book of the same title, which she co-authored with her husband, James W, Miller, and published in April, 2013. The collection of narrative quilts and poetry carries the reader on a journey through African American history from slavery to presidency. Ms. Miller will present some of the poetry from the book and discuss her work in a free, illustrated presentation on Sunday, January 12 at 4:00 pm, in the library’s Ossie Davis Theater. An exhibit reception and book-signing will follow.
Artist Robin Miller has exhibited extensively in the New York and Cape Cod, including the African American Museum in Hempstead, NY, the Zion Union Heritage Museum in Hyannis, MA, the Brooklyn Children’s Museum, and many libraries, schools and private galleries. A retired teacher, Ms. Miller has conducted numerous workshops and presentations, and has written and illustrated a number of children’s book. An additional 12 paintings from her children’s book on Uganda, A Humble Village, will also be on display in the exhibit. Ms. Miller will also conduct a children’s mixed media quilt workshop during February vacation week, on February 19th.
