I provided the Administration today with this article that outlines how the largest school districts in the country have gotten together to create a united buying power to benefit schools.

The Urban School Food Alliance managed to reduce compostable tray prices to below Polystyrene (commonly known as Styrofoam)prices.
Mr Quinn replied with great enthusiasm and is now working on getting New Rochelle schools to join this alliance to also reap the benefit of combined buying power.
Ultimately, New Rochelle schools need to go back to washable trays, but for the interim having Styrofoam out of the system, thus opening the door to revamping the entire waste management system is a great starting point.
