NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Over 400 community residents came together to celebrate the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle, its kids and three amazing honorees during the organization’s Annual BE GREAT event at Beckwith Pointe Club. BE GREAT is a community cocktail party that applauds the efforts of individuals and organizations that support the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle’s mission to uplift and encourage kids. The evening included fine food, dancing and an auction of simply spectacular items.
During this year’s event the following were recognized for their good standing within the community, charitable contributions and commitment to kids served by organizations like the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle.
A GREAT Family: The Warhit Family
A GREAT Educator: Beth Weinberg
A GREAT Business: PM Pediatrics
“This year’s event was a huge success in terms of attendance and set an all time record raising $127,000 to support our mission and vision, says Quay Watkins, Executive Director for the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle. The community’s overwhelming demand for tickets even forced us to relocate the party from Mercedes-Benz of New Rochelle to a much larger venue. Luckily, Beckwith Pointe was kind enough to accommodate us on such short notice and that allowed us to eliminate our wait list and admit those who wanted to support our kids and the evening’s honorees!”
BE GREAT could never happen without the energy and efforts of strong leaders and the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle finds itself blessed with just that. Jaime Deutsch, Evelyn Gonzalez, Diane Luftig and Fran Nordquist served as Co-Chairs for this year’s event. Members of the 2014 BE GREAT Planning Committee included: Sonya Brown, Gina Egan, Jill Frey, Kelli Galloway, Erin Gilligan, Debbie Handler, Marilyn Morris, Anne Marie Nascimento, Roberta Neumann, Cindy Ostrager, Candace Pinn, Judith Redlener, Karin Sadow, Michelle Sanchez-Boyce, Janet Stevens, Diane Tukman and Melanie Williams.
According to Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle Board Chair Candace Pinn, “ Plans are already underway for the 2015 BE GREAT event and anyone interested in learning about sponsorship and advertising opportunities should visit the Club’s website (www.bgcnr.org) or call (914) 235-3736 for early bird rates.”
