A rich array of free programs continues at the New Rochelle Public Library. In addition to weekly workshop and events for preschool, elementary, middle and high school students, the following are open to all ages:
Monday, July 21, 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm: The Family Disney Summer Hit Parade series will begin with the live-action film, The Barefoot Executive. The 1971 movie stars Kurt Russell, Heather North, Joe Flynn and Harry Morgan and runs 96 minutes.
Tuesday, July 22, 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm: Irish Music and Dance starring Niall O’Leary features World Champion dancer Niall O’Leary, master instructor, choreographer, soloist and director of the Niall O’Leary Dance Troupe in New York City. First-come/first-served to the capacity of the library’s Ossie Davis Theater. Doors open at 6:45 pm.
Wednesday, July 23, 10:30 am: Films from Picture Books for the Younger Set: Diary of a Worm… and Four More Great Animal Tales will be shown on the big screen of the Ossie Davis Theater, children ages 2 – 6 years.
Wednesday, July 23, 2:00 – 3:00 pm and 4:00 – 5:00 pm: Two Presentations with Live Animals and an Exhibit Reception with naturalist and photographer Chris Evers, founder of Animal Embassy. Here’s an extraordinary opportunity for close-up and personal encounters with a variety of animals from around the world, such as giant White’s tree frogs, an Eclectus parrot or Spectacled owl, a Green tree python or Emerald Tree boa, Chinchillas, a Pink-toed tarantula, an Argentine Black and White Tegu and/or a Solomon Islands monkey-tailed skink. Seating is on a first-come, first-served to the 100-seat capacity of the Ossie Davis Theater /Meeting Room. Public Exhibit Reception at 6:00 – 7:00 pm, for the Life on Earth exhibit of photographs by Chris Evers and Rebecca Bose.
Saturday, July 26, 11:00 am – 12:30 pm: Container Gardening Workshops with farmer Ruby Olisemeka will show participants of all ages how to grow bountiful gardens – without a garden. The six-session workshops will show how most vegetables can be grown in simple, inexpensive containers by adding soil, seeds, water, and light.
