Image001WESTCHESTER, NY — County Executive Robert P. Astorino today announced that Westchester has been named one of the top 10 digital counties in the United States by the Center for Digital Government (CDG) and the National Association of Counties (NACo).

This is the ninth year that Westchester has been recognized for its exemplary use of technology to improve services, maximize efficiency and save money.

“I am proud that Westchester has once again received this prestigious honor,” said Astorino. “Special thanks to John McCaffrey, commissioner of our Department of Information Technology, for his continued leadership as well as the entire IT staff for their innovation and hard work. Leveraging technology is one way the county stays responsive to the needs of residents and can keep costs down.”

Thousands of U.S. counties were invited to participate in the 2014 Digital Counties Survey. Counties were evaluated on their online service delivery, infrastructure, architecture and governance models. Westchester County tied for tenth place in the survey.

“I am extremely proud that both the Center for Digital Government and NACo once again recognized the great value that Westchester County residents realize via our technology initiatives,” said McCaffrey. “The award reflects the tremendous vision of all county departments working in collaboration with the Department of Information Technology.”
