WHITE PLAINS, NY — The Westchester County Association announced a “Call for Applications” for its Young Professionals Group Scholarship for Leadership Westchester, an intensive, nine-month curriculum designed to sharpen leadership abilities, strengthen communication skills, and prepare today’s passionate professionals for tomorrow’s positions of influence. For the third year in a row, the WCA is offering this scholarship, which covers the full tuition for this signature program of Volunteer New York!. Leadership Westchester provides participants with an in-depth understanding of how nonprofits work, and exposes them to leadership concepts taught at the nation’s top business schools.
Through a dynamic combination of lively classroom discussions, collaborative fieldwork, and self-study, the Leadership Westchester experience shapes the lives of people who want to help improve the communities in which they live and work.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for a young professional in Westchester who wants to learn how to lead and grow as a person,” said Marissa Brett, president of the Westchester County Association. “We are committed to developing the next generation of business leaders in Westchester County, and are pleased to offer this scholarship to a deserving, civic-minded individual.”
Applications for the WCA’s Young Professionals Group Scholarship for Leadership Westchester are due by September 19th and should be submitted to Joelle DiNardi, Westchester County Association, at jdinardi@westchester.org.
Last year’s WCA scholarship recipient was Marya Ugolnick, a senior recruiter at Concorde Executive Search. The program has graduated hundreds of successful alumni, among them Katherine Stipicevic, Senior Manager, Global Citizenship and Sustainability at Pepsi Beverages Company (2013); Larry Gottlieb, President and CEO at the Hudson Valley Economic Development Corporation (2010); and Pat Braja, Development Director, Westchester Library System (2005).
Each Leadership Westchester class size is small – no more than 20 – and includes a mix of individuals from business, the public sector, and nonprofit organizations. The program runs from October through June. For additional details about Leadership Westchester, visit http://www.volunteernewyork.org/leadership.
