AnthonyMorganNEW ROCHELLE, NY — New Rochelle police have arrested Anthony Morgan for shooting Tyrone McGhee at D’Onofrio Field Park a week ago Sunday.

Morgan has been charged with attempted murder in the second degree for shooting McGhee in the abdomen with a handgun.

In a felony complaint filed by New Rochelle Police Detective Michael Messina, police say one shot was fired by Anthony Morgan into Tyrone McGhee at about 4:57 PM. Talk of the Sound has previously reported police received the first call reporting “shots fired” at about 6:24 p.m.

Morgan and McGhee have known each other for many years. They have both fathered a child with the same woman and both children are being raised by the mother. Violence between the two men has occurred in the past, sources say.

Morgan was arrested Thursday.

Morgan has a prior criminal history including dealing heroin.

McGhee was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx in critical condition as a result of the shooting. He underwent emergency surgery and survived. McGhee, initially uncooperative with detectives, identified Morgan as the shooter.

Morgan will next be in court at the New Rochelle City Court on August 25th.
