The Billboards Hacker Public Art Project Live 2
Patrick Bancel a local artist is attempting to raise $15,000 to paint a substantial mural on the walls of a Centre Avenue building(Corner of Centre Avenue and Huguenot Street). He will not be able to do this; partially by the absence of funding, but also by timing if the funding isn’t in place in the next several days. The mural cannot be done in the cool or cold weather. As we have all seen the heat wave is over and fall is approaching.
Currently he is working on “Billboards Hacker Public Art Project” and is looking for funding.

Billboards Hacker Climate Change Awareness and City Beautification
New Rochelle, New York, United States Art
Our society’s exploitation of the environment must end. We convey this vital message through society’s most decadent advertising channel: billboards.

Billboards Hacker seeks to convey this vital message through society’s most decadent advertising channel: gigantic billboards. These billboards that once programmed us to buy, use, consume, and discard our limited resources have now been reprogrammed by Billboards Hacker to display a new message: “What have I done today to end Climate Change?”
Through his paintings, videos, and photographs depicting the city and sky, Billboards Hacker/ Patrick Bancel uses his years of research and observation of light to exhibit peaceful visuals while displaying a message about climate change. By seeing the city and sky—together with his message of climate change—Billboards Hacker seeks to remind everyone of our duty to preserve our fragile planet.
Not only has this message of climate change become an integral part of his artwork, but this message will also leap from the canvas to the real thing as part of a public art project in New York City. While still in its nascent stages, Billboards Hacker plans to display the same message of climate change on actual billboards throughout the city, from Times Square to other iconic places. The money from sales of his artwork, along with private and public sponsors, will help make this historic public exhibit possible.
Patrick Bancel’s short Bio taken from his Web Site:

Patrick Bancel’s or “Billboards Hacker” was born 20 miles from Van Gogh and Cezanne Studio in the beautiful daylight of Provence. He has been painting skies since he was five years old. Traveling around the world for his art he took advantage of every trip to capture more sky scenes with photography and video. He learned trompe l’oeil (trick the eyes) at Van Der Kelen Superior Painting Institute in Brussels where he also became a Director’s Assistant. Upon graduation, Patrick was awarded the Medal and Jury’s distinction and started working as the Assistant Director of the Institute. He also studied at the Ateliers des Beaux Arts de Paris in France. He was a past Intern at The Armory Show New York City.
Patrick is considered by his peers as a master in Trompe l’Oeil painting he has been working with some highly recognized European and American interior designers to paint numerous trompe l’oeil or murals for renowned clients all over the world. In major public and private collections: The New York National Arts Club Collection, The Francis J. Greeburger Collection, The Art Omi Collection, City of Cannes French Riviera, New Rochelle NY, Salon de Provence France.
Patrick Bancel represents what has turned out to be the most vibrant part of our community and what he is undertaking will not only carry on the tradition of a community with a rich cultural and artistic path, but will support foot traffic and an understanding of what we offer in New Rochelle. I would ask that the Council for the Arts, The New Rochelle City Council, or some private citizen in The City of New Rochelle financially support Patrick’s project and understand there is a good deal more he and his colleagues and friends at the Patisserie Café and elsewhere are doing to restore New Rochelle to its glorious path. It is pleasantly ironic that in our 325 anniversary of settlement by the Huguenots, a son of La Belle France, Patrick Bancel is looking to once again, add his special talent to Help The City of New Rochelle.
