The College of New Rochelle Volleyball Defeats York (NY) College, 3-0

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The College of New Rochelle hit .474 in the opening set and cruised to a 3-0 win at York (NY) College on Tuesday. The win was the fifth straight for the Blue Angels and the fourth consecutive straight set win.

Fabiola Padilla Rios, named AD3I Player of the Week and HVIAC Rookie of the Week earlier in the day, paced the CNR offense with a match-high nine kills on a .467 hitting percentage. She added eight digs and two aces. Kylie Thesz added six kills while hitting .500. Melanie Lopez Soto tallied match-highs with 14 assists and 10 digs, while Indigo Flowers added 11 assists and five aces. Rosa Angeles recorded a match- and career-high six aces as part of a 16 ace night for the Blue Angels.

Shauncia McClendon led York with seven kills.

CNR tallied 11 kills against two errors in the opening set, turning an early 3-1 deficit into a 25-13 win. The Blue Angels committed just one attack error in the second set, and used a 14-2 run en route to a 25-11 win. An 18-5 run turned a 4-1 deficit into a 19-9 lead in the third set as the Blue Angels closed out the match with a 25-19 win.

The College of New Rochelle returns to the court on Thursday, traveling to John Jay College for a match that will begin at 7:00 PM.​
