The items were removed soon after the release of a disturbing video which depicts Rice violently assaulting his then-fiancee, now-wife Janay Palmer.

Unlike at New Rochelle High School, Isaac Young Principal Dr. Anthony Bongo, moved quickly to take down the Ray Rice memorabilia at Rice’s old middle school.

At New Rochelle High School Ray Rice’s photograph and plaque was taken down from its Walk of Fame on Tuesday. Rice’s #27 Baltimore Ravens jerseys was removed before classes began on Wednesday.

On Thursday, Schools Superintendent Dr. Brian Osborne and New Rochelle High School Principal Reggie Richardson issued statements explaining their actions. No letter was released by Dr. Bongo.
