Astorino Announces Youth Bureau Request For Proposals Now Open

WESTCHESTER, NY — County Executive Robert P. Astorino announced Friday that the Westchester County Youth Bureau has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the purpose of contracting with positive youth development programs for the calendar years 2015 through 2017. The deadline for submissions is 4 p.m. October 24, 2014.

“Nothing is more important than providing a solid groundwork for our youth,” said Astorino. “Working in partnership with the Westchester County Youth Bureau, Executive Director Iris Pagan, and our strong community organizations, I am confident we can offer them an enriching and rewarding experience that will stay with them throughout their lives.”

There are two Informational Overview Meetings scheduled for Monday, September 22, 2014. The session times are 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. These sessions will be identical. Please choose one session to attend. The meetings will be held at Southern Westchester BOCES, Regatta Room 309 A&B, 450 Mamaroneck Avenue, Harrison, New York 10528.

An original proposal along with six complete copies must be received by the Westchester County Youth Bureau no later than 4 p.m. on Oct. 24, 2014.

The Youth Bureau has identified the following as problems and/or needs that must be addressed:

  • School readiness
  • Child abuse/neglect prevention strategies
  • Obesity prevention
  • Bullying
  • Healthy relationships
  • Out-of-school time
  • Dropout rates
  • Risky behavior
  • Unemployment and lack of college readiness skills
  • STEM for increased academic skills and future employment
  • Foster Care, specifically youth transitioning into adulthood
  • Youth Courts that promote positive peer leadership and youth development for teens aged 13-18.
