NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce is hosting their Annual Women of Excellence Award Dinner on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Beckwith Pointe on Davenport Avenue in New Rochelle.
This dinner, which usually takes place in the spring, was postponed to the fall due to a change in leadership during that time. The new Executive Director, Bob Marrone, also Morning Show host on WFAS, is now in full swing in the position and will act as Master of Ceremonies for the evening’s festivities. The event, which is annually sponsored by the Zaukus family in honor of Muriel Zaukus honors four amazing women living or working in New Rochelle.
The first honoree, a New Rochelle resident, Alisa Kesten, will be awarded the 1st Annual Muriel Zaukus Woman of Outstanding Achievement Award for all the work she does in the Westchester Community joining Volunteers with Non-profit organizations that need them.
Mrs. Jaqueline Agudelo will be receiving the Humanitarian Award for Founding the United Community Center in New Rochelle to help immigrant men, women and children who need help transitioning into American culture and workforce as well as access to much needed benefits.
Mrs. Maria Jose, Branch Manager of Hudson City Savings Bank on the West End is a longtime member of the community and serves on the Boards of the Rotary Club and the Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Jose has also volunteered many hours of service at the Hope Food Pantry and other places in New Rochelle. She will be receiving the Business and Professional Award.
Finally, Amy Torigian Parise, founder of Butterflies From Jodi another non-profit organization. This organization was founded in memory of Ms. Parise’s late sister, Jodie Torigian, who died from cardiac arrest. It is believed that had an Automated External Defibrillators (AED) been on hand, Jodie’s life may have been saved. Now Butterflies from Jodie, among other amazing contributions, gives out AED’s and from 2000 – 2013, Butterflies from Jodie has donated over 46 of these expensive life-saving machines – half to New Rochelle locations.
