WHITE PLAINS, NY — Westchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino will attend Saturday’s Hudson Valley Honor Flight send-off at the Westchester County Airport and join hundreds of fellow patriots in cheering World War II veterans as they embark on a one-day trip to Washington D.C. highlighted by their visit to the World War II memorial.
Up to 75 Westchester WWII veterans will be traveling free of charge to our nation’s capital thanks to a $5,000 donation from the County’s Veterans Service Agency and other donations and sponsorships arranged through Hudson Valley Honor Flight.
“This is just such a wonderful initiative to honor the heroes from our greatest generation and I’m proud to be part of it in any way I can,” said Astorino. “They deserve an outpouring show of support and appreciation for their service and sacrifice and I hope my fellow patriots can come out Saturday and join me in cheering these heroes.”
