NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Habitat for Humanity of Westchester County is always looking for ways to improve New Rochelle, and their new Re-Store at 659 Main Street is going to do just that. The Re-Store opened up on Thursday, October 2, 2014, and the Habitat team has begun to launch their big plans.

The Re-Store will be much more than just a nonprofit home improvement store and donation center that sells new and gently used furniture, home accessories, building materials, and appliances to the public at a fraction of the retail price. The Habitat for Humanity team, led by Jim Killoran, will be offering many different programs through their 659 Main Street location. The programs will include art and music galleries, a historic Main Street program, and the store will also be a transferrable disaster center.

The Re-Store will feature pieces of furniture from a well-known television series, as well as kitchen furniture and appliances donated by celebrities living in the area.

“We love Main Street. This is the most historic Main Street in America. At this center we have approximately 15,000 square feet of love” Killoran said.

CEO Jim Killoran wants to make the presence of green energy in New Rochelle prominent, and to make this happen he will be hosting ‘Solar Saturdays’. The program is designed to teach New Rochelle residents the benefits of using solar energy in the home and workplace. Killoran has five experts on solar energy already confirmed to make presentations at the new Re-Store.

The two-floor Re-Store features new and slightly used goods. Jim Killoran decided to take this space to help revive downtown Main Street. His many programs will help to gather the community and create a strong, lasting, bond between the people of New Rochelle. In honor of Columbus Day this Monday, the Re-Store will be having an all-day sale on items from appliances to t-shirts.
