NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Municipal Arts Commission and the City’s Department of Development are holding an open call for mural art. This project is open to all artists living anywhere in the U.S. Entries will be submitted digitally. See the download form below. For questions: nrpublicart@gmail.com
Artists may submit singularly or as a team. Artists are asked to create a depiction of their proposed mural that closely indicates how they envision their work in real space. Photoshop renderings are preferred. Artists are expected to execute the murals themselves on-site. A trained assistant will provide technical assistance and help with all aspects of the installation.
The location of the public space is Main St. and Beechwood Ave., in downtown historic New Rochelle, NY.
Measurements of the mural space at Beechwood Ave. and Main St. are 16 feet high x 60 feet wide.
The selected winner will be awarded $1500; plus $300.00 for supplies. The stipend will be given upon completion of the project at an awards reception on April 1, 2015. $300.00 will be given upon acceptance to cover costs of executing the mural.
The deadline to submit your entry is December 15, 2014.
Scaffolding and technical assistance will be provided for the selected artist for the duration of the project.
The jury of selection will consist of members of The Municipal Arts Commission of the City of New Rochelle.
The winner will be notified of acceptance by December 31, 2014.
The mural will be installed in early March 2015.
Judges look for colorful, creative, and ‘outside the box’ solutions.
