LEWISTON, NY — The Iona College volleyball team fell in five sets to Niagara in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action at the Gallagher Center. The Purple Eagles came from behind to win the match 19-25, 25-20, 16-25, 25-15, and 15-12.
Senior Shannon Ward and sophomore Karly White recorded career-highs with 16 kills apiece. White hit .500 for the match and added six digs and three blocks. Senior Catrina Warren posted 11 kills and 24 digs. Junior Natalie Ziskin posted 44 assists and senior libero Katie Marabella had her second straight 30+ dig effort with 31. Senior Taylor Cembalisty posted six kills and 15 digs in the loss.
Niagara was led by a trio of performers with 10 or more digs. Nicole Matheis had 11 kills and 20 digs, Rayeene Hall had 12 kills, seven digs and three blocks and Amanda Sedore posted 11 kills and 12 digs. Setter Alexis Gray had 44 assists and libero Rylee Hunt posted 29 digs.
The Gaels continue action in Western New York tomorrow when they take on Canisius.
