NEW ROCHELLE, NY — After leading The College of New Rochelle to a perfect, 4-0, week, the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) has named Meghan King (New City, NY/Clarkstown North) its Volleyball Player of the Week, the conference announced today. This marks the second time the conference has recognized King this season.
King capped a strong week by helping The College of New Rochelle capture the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) Tournament Championship, earning Tournament MVP honors in the process. The senior slammed home 50 kills while hitting at a .342 clip to pace the Blue Angels. The outside hitter began the week with a school record breaking .593 hitting percentage in a Senior Night win over Albertus Magnus College, connecting on 16 kills without committing an error. In the HVIAC Tournament, King helped CNR repeat as champions, recording 25 kills for the top-seeded Blue Angels, who increased their school record win total to 25-7.
The Blue Angels now await the announcement of the ECAC DIII Metro/Upstate Volleyball field to see if they will earn their first post-season championship berth.
