NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The 2014 All-HVIAC Women’s Cross Country Team was announced Tuesday by the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC), recognizing outstanding performances throughout the season.
The College of New Rochelle sophomore Jenean Igmat (New Milford, NJ/New Milford) received All-HVIAC honors for the first time, and is the Blue Angel representative on the squad.
Igmat was one of the team’s top runners all season, and assumed the top spot after a teammate’s injury near the end of the season. The only Blue Angel to compete in every meet this season, she posted a personal best time of 21:34 at Bard Invitational on September 20, completing the 5K course with the fourth fastest time in school history. Igmat was CNR’s top finisher at the HVIAC Championships, placing 13th overall.
Twelve women were recognized with All-HVIAC honors, with four repeat winners. The 2014 squad was dominated by underclassmen with eight freshmen or sophomores.
The HVIAC All-Conference Team was selected by the conference’s women’s cross country coaches.
