BRIDGEPORT, PA – Iona College men’s water polo senior Jake Lloyd registered 18 goals, three assists and four steals in a 2-2 Northern Division concluding homestand weekend against No. 11 Brown University, Connecticut College, Division III No. 4 Massachusetts Institute of Technology and No. 19 Harvard University. For his performance, Lloyd claims his second consecutive Northern Division Player of the Week award.
Playing at home in Hynes Pool, he started his four game campaign with a pairs of goals and assists in a 14-8 loss to No. 11 Brown. Following a five goal performance with a steal and a field block in a 16-11 defeat of Connecticut College, Lloyd broke free for six goals, an assist, a steal and five field blocks in a 14-9 win against Division III No. 4 MIT. He concluded the regular season with five goals in an 11-9 loss to No. 19 Harvard.
In addition, it marks the fourth weekly accolade of his career as he picked up back-to-back Northern Division Rookie of the Week honors on September 12 and 19, 2011.
The Gaels begin postseason play this weekend at the CWPA Northern Division Championships at MIT.
